If you’re having trouble logging in or accessing programmes on BoB, there are a few common reasons. This guide will help you identify what might be causing the issue and what to do next.
I can’t log in
This is usually related to how your account is set up:
If your institution uses SSO (Single Sign-On):
- Make sure you’re using your institutional login details
- Check with your institution if your account is active
If your institution uses a local login:
- Your account must first be set up by your Member Representative
- Check with them if they’ve requested your account
- Once your account has been created, look for the verification email (including your spam folder) and follow the link to activate it
If you’re unsure which login method to use, contact your Member Representative.
I can log in, but can’t access content
This is often because your account setup isn’t complete.
- Make sure you’ve verified your account via email
- Check your inbox (and spam folder) for the verification email
- Follow the link to complete your account setup
Until your account is verified, you may be able to log in but won’t be able to access content.
I’m outside the UK
BoB is only available within the UK due to the terms of the ERA licence, which means access from overseas locations isn’t permitted.
This applies even if you’re a student or staff member at a UK institution who is temporarily abroad, and unfortunately this isn’t something we’re able to override.
If you’re currently outside the UK, you may want to speak to your lecturer or institution about alternative resources that can support your work.
My institution has access, but I still can’t use BoB
This may be due to:
- An issue with your account setup
- A temporary network or IT restriction
- A problem with your institution’s authentication system
Try:
- Switching networks (e.g. from campus Wi-Fi to another connection)
- Checking with your IT department
Who should I contact?
- Staff and students → contact your Member Representative first
- Member Representatives → contact members@learningonscreen.ac.uk
If you don’t know who your Member Representative is, you can contact us directly and we’ll point you in the right direction.
Still having issues?
If the problem continues, please get in touch and include:
- A description of the issue
- Any relevant links
- Your institution
- The time you experienced the issue
