Overview
Access to TRILT and BoB depends on your membership type, your institution’s subscription, and licensing requirements.
This guide explains who can use each service and what to do if you’re unsure about your access.
Quick answer
- TRILT → available to Learning on Screen members (institutional, individual and corporate)
- BoB → available to staff and students at subscribing institutions within the UK only
- BoB access is provided through institutions, not individual memberships
Who can access TRILT?
TRILT (Television and Radio Index for Learning and Teaching) is available to:
- Staff and students at member institutions
- Individual members
- Corporate members
TRILT is a database of broadcast information, so:
- You can search for programmes and explore archive records
- It can be used independently of BoB
Who can access BoB?
BoB (Box of Broadcasts) is available to:
- Staff and students at institutions that:
- Have a Learning on Screen membership, and
- Have an active BoB subscription, and
- Hold an ERA licence
Access is also limited to users who are physically in the UK, due to licensing restrictions.
Access requirements for BoB
To use BoB, you must:
- Be a current staff member or student at a subscribing institution
- Be located in the UK when accessing the service
- Log in using your institution’s access method (SSO or local login)
- Complete account setup (including email verification, if required)
Who cannot access BoB?
BoB is not available to:
- Individuals without access through an eligible institution
- Users outside the UK (even if they belong to a UK institution)
- Organisations without an ERA licence
We’re only licensed to provide access through eligible educational institutions, so we’re unable to offer individual or external access.
